The question

Can AI make hair care advice more personal?

Hair care is full of opinions. A lot of advice online sounds confident, but it is generic: it does not know the person’s hair, routine, environment, or what they have already tried. Hairmama started as an experiment in making that guidance more practical.

Context

Search for hair advice and you get too many answers. Use this oil, avoid that product, try this routine, all stated with the same certainty and none of it aware of your hair. I wanted to see whether photos plus a bit of user context could produce suggestions that were actually about the person asking.

Building it

The product combines image input with personal context. It is not trying to sound like a hair expert. It is trying to help someone understand what might be happening with their own hair and what they can reasonably do next. The interface stays simple, because using it should not require understanding anything about AI.

What surprised me

Consumer AI products have to earn trust on the first result. If that one reads generic, the user has no reason to believe the second. So the product has to be careful with how confident it sounds, and helpful without pretending to know more than it does.

What I learned

The product got better when it focused on one real use case instead of general hair advice. Photos turned out to be less than half the input; the user’s context did more work than the image. Practical advice is worth more here than impressive language.
